Curvature-driven ac-assisted creep dynamics of magnetic domain walls

نویسندگان

چکیده

The dynamics of micrometer-sized magnetic domains in ultrathin ferromagnetic films is so dramatically slowed down by quenched disorder that the spontaneous elastic tension collapse becomes unobservable at ambient temperature. By magneto-optical imaging we show a weak zero-bias ac field can assist such curvature-driven collapse, making area bubble to reduce measurable rate, spite negligible effect same curvature has on average creep motion driven comparable dc field. An analytical model explains this phenomenon quantitatively.

Current-driven dynamics of chiral ferromagnetic domain walls.

In most ferromagnets the magnetization rotates from one domain to the next with no preferred handedness. However, broken inversion symmetry can lift the chiral degeneracy, leading to topologically rich spin textures such as spin spirals and skyrmions through the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). Here we show that in ultrathin metallic ferromagnets sandwiched between a heavy metal and an ...

Current-driven dynamics of domain walls constrained in ferromagnetic nanopillars

We investigate the effects of an electric current on the domain wall formed inside a cylindrical ferromagnetic nanopillar as a consequence of the pinning of the magnetization at its ends. We first present the results of three-dimensional and one-dimensional micromagnetic simulations and show that the system approaches a stationary equilibrium, where the domain wall is compressed in the directio...

AC driven magnetic domain quantification with 5 nm resolution

As the magnetic storage density increases in commercial products, e.g. the hard disc drives, a full understanding of dynamic magnetism in nanometer resolution underpins the development of next-generation products. Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) is well suited to exploring ferromagnetic domain structures. However, atomic resolution cannot be achieved because data acquisition involves the sensin...

The Role of Domain Walls on the Vortex Creep Dynamics in Unconventional Superconductors

We investigate the influence of domain walls on the vortex dynamics in superconductors with multi-component order parameters. We show that, due to their complex structure domain walls can carry vortices with fractional flux quanta. The decay of conventional vortices into fractional ones on domain walls is examined. This decay presents an extraordinarily strong pinning mechanism for vortices and...

Chiral damping of magnetic domain walls.

Structural symmetry breaking in magnetic materials is responsible for the existence of multiferroics, current-induced spin-orbit torques and some topological magnetic structures. In this Letter we report that the structural inversion asymmetry (SIA) gives rise to a chiral damping mechanism, which is evidenced by measuring the field-driven domain-wall (DW) motion in perpendicularly magnetized as...
